TWEEN CODING CLUB

Tompkins County Public Library invites tweens to the Tween Coding Club, Wednesdays, December 4 and 18, from 4:45 to 5:45 PM in the Library’s Digital Lab and Makerspace.

At these meetings, tweens ages 9 to 12 will learn to express themselves through computer programming. Using the Adafruit Circuit Playground Express, a small microcontroller with big possibilities, participants will learn the basics of coding and hardware while interacting with the world through light, sound, temperature, and movement. The possibilities include making a guitar you play with light, coding an interactive game, building a heat-detecting lamp, and more. No experience is necessary; enthusiasm is required.

This program will be led by Michael Darfler, a maker, coder, and educator who recently moved back to Ithaca. He is passionate about hands-on learning and being part of a thriving community of learners.

This program is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Registration is required. Register for the December 4 session here: https://www.tcpl.org/events/tween-coding-club-2. For later sessions, navigate to the entry on the TCPL Online Events Calendar; www.tcpl.org/events/month.
