POETRY READING: JOYCE HOLMES MCALLISTER
Tompkins County Public Library is pleased to host poet Joyce Holmes McAllister, who will read from her new book Food for Thought on Saturday, December 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, in the Library’s BorgWarner Community Room East.
The community is invited to enjoy an afternoon with local poet, Joyce Holmes McAllister, the author of Return and Before We Knew. McAllister’s new book Food for Thought is a collection of poems about food, both humorous and serious, with original watercolor illustrations by Mary Beth O’Connor. There will be a book signing following the reading.
After her retirement as an administrator at Cornell University, McAllister devoted much of her time to creative writing, primarily poetry. Her first poetry chapbook Before We Knew was published by Foot Hills Press when she was eighty-five years old. She published her second chapbook Return, put out by Yellow Sofa Press. Her new collection engages her passion for both poetry and food.
